The objective of this project was to redesign the packaging for Beat The Parents, a popular family game by Spin Master. The goal was to create a modern, fun, and energetic look that would appeal to families and stand out on the shelves.
At Powerstation Studios, I was tasked with developing a series of initial design concepts based on the client's request for a more contemporary and vibrant aesthetic. In addition to the packaging redesign, Spin Master also requested a completely new logo to be developed alongside the packaging design, ensuring that the visual identity was fresh and aligned with the modern look they envisioned. Spin Master provided moodboards with specific colours, styles, and visual references that they liked, which I carefully analyzed to ensure the new packaging would align with their vision. The focus was on capturing the playful and competitive spirit of the game while giving it a fresh, engaging look that would attract both parents and children. The challenge was to strike the perfect balance between fun and modern, ensuring the packaging and logo felt exciting yet family-friendly, and ultimately set Beat The Parents apart in a competitive market.
The Beat The Parents project was incredibly fun to work on, though it came with its fair share of challenges. The primary challenge I faced was in designing the logo. I wanted the packaging to feel fun, vibrant, and energetic, packed with illustrations and graphics that would capture the playful spirit of the game. However, I also needed to ensure the logo didn’t get lost in all the visual elements. The key was to develop a simple, bold logo that would stand out while still maintaining harmony with the rest of the design. I spent a lot of time balancing the colors, typography, and graphic elements on the packaging to ensure the logo retained its prominence without overwhelming the overall look.
Although the project was eventually paused, I’m proud of the initial concepts I developed. They adhered closely to the client’s brief and requirements, and I believe they offered a strong visual foundation for the brand, with a playful yet modern feel that aligned perfectly with the game's target audience.
