Working on the NYX Video Game-Inspired Mailer was an exciting and creative challenge. Known for its minimalist and simple brand identity, NYX wanted to take a bold step and infuse some fun into the packaging for this special campaign. The goal was to create a memorable mailer that would resonate with female influencers who are passionate about gaming.

To bring this vision to life, we drew inspiration from the world of video games, especially the Nintendo Switch, which was hugely popular at the time. Collaborating with the team at Lion, we conceptualized a console-inspired box that would instantly evoke the gaming world while staying true to NYX’s playful and vibrant tone. I used bold typography and game-inspired design elements to create a dynamic, engaging experience, giving the mailer a sense of excitement and energy.

The result was a fun, unique packaging design that successfully merged NYX’s minimalistic roots with the bright, colorful world of gaming, making it a perfect fit for the target audience of female gamers. This project was incredibly rewarding, as it allowed me to push the boundaries of NYX’s brand identity while creating something truly memorable.

Brand Challenge:

The key challenge in designing the NYX Video Game-Inspired Mailer was blending the fun, energetic theme of video games with NYX’s signature minimalist style. NYX is known for its clean, simple brand identity, and the design had to remain true to that aesthetic while injecting excitement and playfulness.

Additionally, the packaging design had to stay consistent with NYX’s existing product packaging, particularly in terms of color palette, typography, and overall design style. The goal was to evoke the world of video games—specifically the popularity of the Nintendo Switch at the time—while making sure the mailer felt like a natural extension of NYX’s established look. By carefully blending bold typography, playful game-inspired visuals, and a design that adhered to NYX’s color scheme and style, we were able to create a unique yet cohesive packaging experience that felt both fresh and true to the brand.
